Micheline and Nick are already parents to an adorable little gal. When they called asking if I could take some pictures of the family before their newest member arrives, I was thrilled. An afternoon with an awesome little family and the chance to capture them before Baby C makes his grand entrance. Yup, lucky me.
Mama-to-be was smokin’ hot. She rocked the session and made it look easy. Even wardrobe was snap. Micheline chose, in my humble opinion, the PERFECT dress for a maternity shoot. Seriously, Ladies. Follow her lead.
And this little lady was such a delight. And look at those baby blues… Definitely a future heartbreaker.
Hello, cute girl!
And then there was this. My favourite. Maybe ever.
Congrats to all of you. I can’t wait to meet your new baby boy. What a lucky little man he’ll be.
I’m still swooning over this photoshoot. These two were so awesome. I feel like I say that a lot, and maybe I am just lucky to be hired by fabulous people, but it is actually true. Melanie and Jason were very involved in picking the location (which turned out to be PERFECT), but they were also ready for me to take charge and tell them what to do. The gorgeous though, was ALL them.
I give almost all the credit to the beauties in front of the camera, but I do have to admit, I had a little bit of help. Mother Nature was a doll that day. We were blessed with amazing weather and absolutely beautiful light. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Melanie and Jason, you guys are rock stars. I am so excited to see you both again on the big day.
Vanessa and I talked about the session over the phone and by email, but never in person. It felt like a blind date as I waited for them in the coffee shop. They walked in and within minutes I was thinking, “how lucky am I?” Seriously. They were not only gorgeous, but also up for absolutely anything – which is my favourite quality in people I am going to photograph.
Vanessa and Ryan are getting married on a beautiful island in a couple of months, so what better backdrop for the engagement pictures than the city they live in together blanketed in crisp, white snow. And after a cancelled session due to a ridiculous -26 on the thermometer, the day we settled on ended up being picture perfect. And more.
This session was MONTHS ago. Early fall, when temperatures were still warm. As I sit here typing and the ground is covered in a blanket of snow and the cold wind whistles at my window, these pictures make me happy. I long for warm days again…
I met Charlotte and her Mama at a party I was shooting for another little girl. They were so lovely and I was absolutely thrilled when they called for me to capture Charlotte’s first birthday. I absolutely love one-year olds. They are still so curious about you, and they usually can’t run away from you – well, too fast, anyway…
And Charlotte was the perfect subject. Beautiful, sweet and so much fun.
This blog has been completely ignored for the last few months. Sad, really, as I have many sessions to post, but just hardly any time to do it. Isn’t that always the way? If you have been part of any of those sessions and have been checking in – please forgive me. I have grand plans to catch up, and I will. Soon.
As my big welcome back, I thought I would post pictures from a Valentine’s Day shoot with two little cuties. My little cuties, who, with a bit (a lot) of bribery, were perfect models that day. It doesn’t often happen, but when it does, I take full advantage!
Wishing everyone a lovely, lovely, lovely love day. And some chocolate, too.
One of my favourite things to photograph are birthday parties. I like wandering around, capturing the details, the cake, the candles, the merriment – except at my own parties. I don’t have time. Especially at my kids’ birthdays. I would much rather see the look on my daughter’s face as the cake is brought out or see the surprise my son felt as the pinata broke apart, than be adjusting my ISO or pulling the lens cap off, just in time…to miss the moment.
But I can’t lie, I don’t take many pictures on the day, and I always regret not having them after. I want to see the moments, but I also want to be able to relive them later in pictures.
So when Geoff and Monica asked me to photograph their daughter’s first birthday party, I was thrilled. I’ve had a couple of sessions with them already and they are so fun and easy going, that I knew it was going to be a blast.
And it was. Lily is a beauty and a true little lady. Her parents, grandparents and GREAT grandparents were so lovely. Actually, everyone there was pretty awesome (including a very old friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in years and was surprised to find he knew this family as well – lucky me!) and you could just feel the love. Lily was surrounded by her biggest fans on her biggest day (so far) and I was so honoured to be there to capture it all for them.
Monica had the crown specially made for the birthday girl. How cute!
I have a few sessions to post from the last couple of weeks. And I can’t wait because they were all awesome. But until then, I’ll leave you with a couple of beauties.
The third time was the charm. The morning we attempted our third shoot, Mother Nature played right along. In fact, everything went so smoothly. Even finding random, side-of-the-road locations completely by chance made it that much more awesome. Well, I enjoyed everything except for the swarm of deer flies that seemed to be stalking us…
But don’t get me wrong, previous disasters or not, I felt lucky to get three shots at taking pictures for these two. Each time we were belly laughing (Vinnie more than me – I’m that funny) and having a blast. Can you call it work when it is that fun?
Little Baby A is due in just over 2 weeks and I am SO excited to meet her. Still not here and already so loved…
Our maternity photoshoots have been cursed. We’ve gone out twice already. The first time we *just* missed the light and within seconds were eaten almost alive. The second time a freak storm rolled in unexpectedly and we barely made it back to the car before the sky opened up on us.
Thankfully, at both sessions, we were able to snap a few shots before having to hightail it out. I wanted to post a sneak peek for the parents-to-be as we prepare to try *just one more time* this weekend. Stay tuned for the rest in a few days. And cross your fingers that our third attempt does not stir up some kind of natural disaster. Third time’s a charm, right?
